Update: Looks like the hackers may have been able to get access to credit card information. Well, at least there was a point to it all.

It hasn’t been an enjoyable few days for Playstation 3 owners. Citing an “external intrusion” as the cause, Sony shut down the Playstation Network last Wednesday and is now saying the service outage will last indefinitely.

The Playstation Network is a free service that allows PS3 owners to game online for free. But it goes beyond that. All of the streaming services available via the PS3 function through the Network, including two close to my heart — Netflix and MLB.tv.

In short, it’s been a miserable few days. I can’t watch baseball or movies on my television and that is an obstacle if we’re being nice or incredibly annoying if we’re not.

It would be easy to make Sony a target — get off your ass guys! — but isn’t it time to simply call out hackers for being huge assholes.

I understand what a nice feather in your cap it must be “Zero Cool,” but you’ve made the last week a little bit worse for me, and for that I’ll never forgive you.
