I didn’t want to write about this week’s Saturday Night Live. Honest. I had to wait a few days to see the episode, hosted by Josh Brolin, and the show has been in a woeful funk for basically all of 2012. And then SNL went and had its best episode in a great long while.
Brolin was simultaneously an asset and got out of the way. There were major doses of Andy Samberg, Bill Hader and featured player Jay Pharoah. Kristen Wiig was used in moderation. It was the type of thing that makes one ever optimistic that Saturday Night Live can be truly great again.
Anyway, this may not be terrifically useful at this point. But as always we’ve got your must-see sketches, ranked in order of importance, below.
